Those Pearly Whites | Professional Teeth Whitening At Home

January 29, 2018

The first thing I notice about anyone I meet, their shoes and their smile.  Both speaks volumes about the individual, their smile more than anything.  I've always had this little bug in the back of my head worrying if my teeth looked fine or were white enough. I still catch myself not smiling when I want to because I'm that worried. When Smile Brilliant reached out about reviewing an at home whitening kit I was sold. Professional whitening from my own house? I think anyone would say yes, and it was perfect timing. I was already in the market for a good whitening kit.

My teeth story:

I've had the works. Fillings, braces, spacers, you name it. I have even chipped my front tooth {twice}, so one is slightly longer than the other. Yes, I've always been a little self-conscious about it, but I got it pretty evened out now. I got braces when I was in 8th grade and I'm happy I did. That helped my confidence so much. Years after that I tried a few teeth whitening products, and yes I have had results, but not what I really wanted. Fast forward to today and I'm an avid tea + Mountain Dew drinker. I've been better about using straws anytime I drink anything I know will stain my teeth.

Deciding on a whitening product is tricky sometimes. I've used a fair share of products, but none that were personalized to me and also reasonably priced. Beauty is pain, and sometimes beauty costs money. When I found out the kit was $139 I wasn't surprised. You get custom fit whitening trays, whitening gel, desensitizing gel, and a company that is available for any questions you may have. It's the total package without the huge price tag.

The steps are easy. I answered a few questions about the history of my teeth, a few days later I got a kit in the mail with everything I would need to get started. I made my teeth impressions and sent them away with the prepaid shipping envelope. I got my personalized trays about a week and a half later and started immediately. I whitened for a full week and everyday I did, I saw great improvement. I didn't change my food or drink habits, I still drank chai tea lattes and ate carbs. After a full week of whitening I would say my teeth are at least 2 shades whiter.

My Tips:

  • When making the molds follow the instructions. I ended up using all three molds because I didn't think that the first one I made of my top teeth was good enough. If you have a second thought about a mold, redo it. I'm happy they sent me three mold pastes in the end.
  • Use the desensitizing gel right after you whiten. I have sensitivity so I used this religiously. It helped so much when it came to the sensitive feeling you get from using a whitening product.
  • Whiten before bed. This makes it easy and you don't have to worry about not eating after. Whiten, desensitize, snooze. This can also be a helpful thing for people that forget to brush at night. You have to brush your teeth after whitening so just adding an extra step before bed is easy.

I'm beyond happy with the results! The proof really is in the pudding, or in this case, the photo.
