Love Day With Downtown Omaha Marriott

February 14, 2018

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today is the day of love and I'm getting the chance to share the amazing photos we did for Downtown Omaha Marriott. This photo shoot was one of my favorites. Not only did I get to work with a great group of companies and my dear friend, I got to take photos with my love. That's always a win in my book. Not only was this photo shoot awesome, the new hotel is KILLER. If you haven't gotten a chance to see it I highly recommend you do. Make reservations at their restaurant and wine & dine yourself.

The whole day was incredible, I honestly felt like I was actually getting married that day, {maybe it was a test run}. From the very beginning we walked into a dream. They had everything planned out so we knew exactly what would be happening when. You get your own dedicated event manager who helps with every single detail that goes into planning. I think the one thing that every bride wants on her big day is ease and no stress, and that's exactly the atmosphere we were in. Hair and makeup was perfect, both Jordan and Kylie were great to work with. It's always nice to get pampered on your big day, and they made sure to do that. Side note: If you're like me and coffee helps run your life, they have a Starbucks on site. This was so helpful for a long day of shooting, and a great midday pick-me-up.

If you need your makeup done for any occasion, Jordan is your girl. She works at Sephora over in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

It was seamless from hair, to makeup, to getting in the dress. This dress though. I instantly fell in love when it came out of the dress bag, and it fit like a glove. Jocelyn from Ready or Knot was kind enough to lend us a few dresses to wear for the shoot. I was like a little girl going to the fitting and finding the perfect dress. The gentlemen also got some great suits to pair with the dresses. Lisa from Gentleman's Choice Tuxedo was great about getting the perfect fit for Troy. I might be bias, but I'm pretty sure he pulls off a suit well.

Mitchell from Adventure Theory Media was our photographer. I had already seen his photography and I was excited to shoot with him. I'm pretty positive he will be my wedding photographer someday too. We ventured around the whole hotel for photos. They have so many great places to take photos, both indoors and out. The fact that they have an ice rink a few steps away is great. That made for some fun photos and even better bloopers. The Old Market is also a few blocks away. It was too cold to venture too far, but the hotel location is perfect for a bunch of different photo spots. My favorite place to take photos was the main floor entryway / bar. The contemporary design and love for good decor is strong in this hotel. The fireplace was just an added bonus. They have long stairways, good lighting, and great artwork to top it all off.

When we got to the photo shoot with the food I was blown away. The whole set-up was incredible. It was a Winter Wonderland theme and they executed it well with a little help from Tracy at Events Etc. and  Mickey at United Rent All. The linens, flowers, and dinnerware combined with the food was breathtaking. Chef Brent and his team created such delicious food and even better dessert. We got the privilege to actually eat the food that got photographed. Perks of the job. That dessert looked and tasted like heaven.

These fireplace photos are my favorite. The serious ones make me feel like we should be in a game of Clue. The atmosphere of the whole hotel was warm, inviting, and the perfect backdrop for some killer photos.

We also went down to Burdock & Bitters for photos and drinks. I will say, the bartenders know their stuff! They can make you exactly what you want or recommend something you may like. That day was the first time I tried a French 75 and it was delicious. Even though we were there for photos, every single person we encountered in the hotel was so kind and helpful. Hospitality really is their first priority and it shows. After the whole photo shoot Mara the Event Sales Manager was kind enough to treat us to dinner in their restaurant Society 1854. I've been to my fair share of restaurants and this one takes the cake. The really focus on presentation and fine dining. The whole staff was incredible, I'm itching to go back soon.

Special thank you to all the people that made this possible! Also a big thank you to Mara and Downtown Omaha Marriott for having us!
