Books on my List

January 16, 2018

I put reading on my list of things to do in 2018. Not having read in a while, I searched online and in Barnes & Noble for some good reads.

The first book I finished was Milk & Honey. It’s a quick read because it’s all poetry but definitely worth the time to sit down and indulge in. I read this on one of the coldest days in Omaha’s record, wrapped up in a blanket, with a hydrating face mask on. It honestly has a poem for everyone. You can connect to at least one page in this book. I even took the time to Post-it a few that I want to come back to. They are inspiring and some of them can be a strength builder when you’re down and need something to grasp to.

I sometimes have a hard time really engulfing myself in a book with surrounding distractions. This playlist on Spotify is a great one to play in the background and helps to really sink into a book. Not only did it help, it honestly helped me connect to the book more on an emotional level. Weird to type out, but that’s exactly what it did!

The Woman I Wanted To Be

Diane von Furstenberg

I've always looked up to Diane von Furstenberg and even watched her fashion show when it was on TV. Reading about fashion designers and where they came from is always humbling.

Man Repeller

Leandra Medine

Leandra Medine is hilarious and a great blogger.

Another great story worth reading.

But What If We're Wrong?

Chuck Klosterman

I bought this book for Troy for Christmas and he already read a lot of it. Klosterman is a great author and he highly recommended I read this next.

They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us

Hanif Abdurraqib

After reading the description about the book I was intrigued.

Grace: Thirty Years of Fashion at Vogue

Grace Coddington

Vogue is one of my favorite magazines, and when I heard Grace was stepping down as Creative Director it made me want to read her book even more.

The Bad Beginning: Or, Orphans!

Lemony Snicket

I'm obsessed with this series. I've already read the whole thing, but now that the second season comes out on Netflix in March I want to re-read it.

No One Belongs Here More Than You

Miranda July

A collection of stories to read. I've heard this book was a little strange so I'm excited to read it.

Pillow Thoughts

Courtney Peppernell

This book popped up on Barnes & Noble's list and the cover intrigued me. I used to pick books based on the cover, and this was one of those.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck

Mark Manson

The title says it all.

The Power

Naomi Alderman

Listed as one of the best books of 2017, so I think it's worth a read.

What’s on your list? Have you read any of these?
