DIY: Painted Clutch

June 15, 2014
Clutches are coming out my ears, but here is another DIY with my new favorite. I absolutely love how this turned out and I plan on making a few more. I bought enough fabric to make at least two or more. It’s almost like a giant pencil case with a little sass. I hope you girls like it!
What you need:
1/2 yard plain canvas fabric
1/2 yard printed cotton fabric
12 inch zipper
Fabric paint
Sewing machine
First you want to cut out the fabric for the clutch. I used the measurements 10 inches x 13 inches. That gave enough room for sewing allowance. My clutch ended up being 9 inches x 12 inches in the end.
Using the fabric paint, create designs on one side of the canvas. I went with none other than flowers, They ended up looking really cool when pressed to the other piece of canvas. I started with one color and layered one after the other.
I used three colors to create my design, red, blue and teal.
Pin all of the layers together, the liner should be the right side showing and the canvas should be the wrong sides together.
Sew all sides together except the opening.
Optional: Pinch the corners and sew to create small triangle pieces. Cut off the excess.
This helps the clutch stand up and add a little more depth.
Pin the zipper to the fabric and sew.
And you’re finished! The most fun DIY I’ve done in a while. The possibilities are endless with this one.
dress – Loft // belt – Forever 21 {old, similar} // necklace – Shamelessly Sparkly // ring – Forever 21 // earrings – Kohl’s
Thanks so much for reading and have fun DIYing!
